They say there are many ways to skin a cat (but why would you want to, they’re cute and fluffy and cuddly) and there are definitely many route choices available to someone planning a RTW trip. The most obvious decision is east vs west and your geographical location is likely to have quite a bearing (?!) on this, but for us, timing was the determining factor.
The route taken so far is as follows:
UK > South Africa [including Swazailand] > Namibia > Botswana > Zambia > Malawi > Tanzania > Kenya > Rwanda (flight) > Kenya
The van engine was in trouble in Kenya so I shipped home from there, but whilst the van was in transit, I flew to Canada, took a train to Seattle, then did a road trip in a hire car for a few weeks before flying home to meet the van in the UK…
